There are guys who just need a couple of good chords, a voice with personality and a story to tell to reach our soul in a matter of seconds. True soul singers dispense with accessories to transmit and, no doubt, Clarence Milton Bekker is on that roster of the chosen ones. Born in Suriname but with Dutch nationality, his career has taken him in countless ways: he was the youngest member of the successful Swinging Soul Machine, of the world music collective 08001, and he has been the voice of the viral project Playing For a Change. The setbacks in his life momentarily separated him from his dazzling path, but years later he began again, from the first step and with the greatest humility. Fortunately, we already have him back, with much more strength to sweep the stage. You will get excited about soul again as if it were the first time.

LA LOCOMOTORA NEGRA 50 ANNIVERSARY
THE FAREWELL TOUR

On January 31st, 1971, a jazz quintet named of La Locomotora Negra made their debut concert at La Cova del Drac club, on Tuset street in Barcelona.

Over the years, the original quintet expanded to become a 17-piece big band and became one of the most requested swing bands in Catalonia, offering concerts on countless stages and festivals throughout the country and abroad.

Today, about to celebrate its 50th anniversary, La Locomotora Negra has decided to make this milestone coincide with its farewell to the stage. The Barcelona Jazz Festival concert (29th January 21), announced as a “farewell concert”, is just the starting point of a whole year in which La Locomotora negra offers to extend its goodbye to all those who are interested. For this reason, we want to establish contact with the maximum number of programmers, festivals and public, to announce that the orchestra will carry out a tour of “celebration and farewell concerts” throughout the year 2021.

COLDDAY

in 2008 Coldplay released their biggest album: “Viva la vida or death and all his friends”, which was followed by one of the most massive world tours in history.

This is why COLDDAY (official tribute), after finishing their successful “a head full of dreams tour” (which brought them to Dubai, France, Spain, Belgium, UK or Romania) decided to pay
tribute to the Anniversary of this iconic album and also its tour by recreating the same show they brought on stage between 2008 and 2010.

“VIVA LA VIDA ANNIVERSARY TOUR” replicates that wonderful tour: same outfits, same instruments, same scenography, same setlist but also playing all their greatest hits so far, including songs from their last new album “everyday life”.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE

They are an English New Wave music group from the 80s, formed in 1977 in Sheffield. The group had massive success in the early 80s. Human League has continued writing albums in the 90s and 2000s. The group’s only constant member has been singer Phillip Oakey. The group currently performs with the Oakey line-up along with female singers Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Gayle.

His biggest hit was “Don’t You Want Me”, which reached number 1 in England at Christmas 1981 and was one of the best-selling albums of the year. In turn, it reached number 1 in the United States in the summer of 1982, becoming one of the best-known songs in history.

If the European continent has a Hammond organ master, its ownership corresponds to the Austrian Raphael Wressnig. Under the influence of both the incredible Jimmy Smith and Booker T. Jones & Joe Zawinul, Wressnig perfectly dominates the resources of this instrument with a unique sound, which he offers without interruption for years, on stages around the world.

From 2013 to 2017 his name has always been among the best organists of the year in the magazine “Downbeat” along with other illustrious such as Joey DeFrancesco and Lonnie Smith.

Blues, jazz, soul and funk are the ingredients that combine in his repertoire, where he keeps the tradition alive and updates its language and its vibrations.

GISELE JACKSON

From Baltimore and before settling in Brooklyn, Gisele Jackson turned with Ray Charles as one of his “Raylettes” and shared a multitude of stages with the incomparable Donna Summer and with James Brown. She has taken his soul, jazz and blues to more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America and has performed as soloist in the main jazz halls in the United States. She has also performed as an opening act for artists such as Tito Puente, Bette Midler, The Commodores, B-52 and many other giants of the music in a variety of musical genres. Her great success “Love Commandments” reached No. 3 on the Billboard dance list and today is a true classic in dance clubs.

The Christians

The Christians burst onto the music scene in the late 80s when their triple platinum debut album THE CHRISTIANS (which still remains to this day Islands records highest selling debut album) containing no less than 7 singles including Forgotten Town, Ideal World, Born Again, Hooverville was being played in every household… the bands follow up album COLOUR knocked off Phil Collins from the Number One slot in 1990 and the band went on to enjoy years of UK european success with Words, Father and other hits from subsequent album HAPPY IN HELL.  Their cover HARVEST FOR THE WORLD for Unicef was complimented by the Isley Brothers and is played constantly to this day, Garry Christian’s distinctive lead vocals can also be heard alongside Paul McCartney and Holly Johnson on the Ferry Across the Mersey (recorded after the tragedy at Hillsborough 1989).

 Lead singer Garry still sounds as good today as he did back then and the band are constantly touring as well as being invited to appear at many prestigious festivals where The Christians have made a name for performing a belting set packed full of the hits that bring back pure happiness and nostalgia to the crowd.

 Described by Chris Evans as ‘the best gig he’s ever been to’ The Christians are a reminder that not everything from the 80s was uncool! The surprisingly meaningful and appropriate songs combined with a voice that ‘penetrates the soul’ … explains why THE CHRISTIANS seem to be celebrating such a big resurgance!

The blow monkeys

The Blow Monkeys are unique with a roller-coaster career spanning over 35 years. Always making new music, always stretching musical boundaries. With worldwide hits such as the classics “Digging Your Scene” and “It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way”. Their relentless desire to move forward, to collaborate, to be socially engaged and to have something to contribute. Back in the 80’s they worked with people as varied as Curtis Mayfield, Paul Weller or Cheb Khaled. “No band since The Clash in their early 80’s heyday had attempted to act as a sounding board for such politically engaged, eclectic music” Dr Robert even took time out to release one of the UK’s first homegrown ‘house’ records “Wait”, his top 5 duet with Chicago soul diva Kym Maselle. And so the journey continues. Reformed in 2008 The Blow Monkeys are about to release possibly their finest work yet “The Wild River” ( Oct 17) their fifth album since reforming In concert they are indeed sight to see. Soulful, funky and smart. These Monkeys continue to evolve. From their beginnings on the  underground club scene right through to their appearance on the biggest selling soundtrack of all time “Dirty Dancing” and beyond. Long may they swing

Clara Montes is an artist that innovates in her music, but always maintains the roots of the deepest and most ingrained flamenco.
